Preparing Your Garden for Spring
Author: Alaina Salks
At Riverview we recommend that you clean your garden in the fall. However, if
you weren't able to finish your fall cleanup or if any other debris has
accumulated over the winter, you should clean up now.
All annual plants - like tomatoes, cucumbers or corn shocks - should be completely removed. Asparagus plants should have their tops cut off and any leaves or excess debris should be discarded. Remember that you can easily chop up and compost all of this excess organic matter!
As spring approaches remember to keep your garden free of weeds. Pests and diseases spread rapidly, growing on the weeds left in your garden and in any excess organic matter. So keep that garden clean and grow healthy plants!
